CRISTAL, the coffee table that controls your electronics

The Austrian team of the Media Interaction Lab presents CRYSTAL, the project that turns your coffee table into a universal remote multi-touch.

The goal is to bring together in one element, the table and control the largest possible number of devices: TV, lights, home theater, DVD player, stereos, automatic vacuum cleaner ...

With CRYSTAL, you will not see more remotes in a row on the window sill or the coffee table, farewell units lost who knows where ...

To order any of these devices, the table uses a very intuitive display to the top of your piece in real time (assuming a camera mounted on the ceiling). A simple touch on the representation of both devices will allow you to activate it.

Note also the possibility of using the table as a file viewer and video, hopefully, other types of documents (and perhaps we can consider the management of a library?).

Remote control of modern times who would be likely to cost between 10,000 and € 15,000, shame ...
