A study on worldwide sales of products made by DisplaySearch highlights a 29% increase in sales of appliances with a touch screen in 2009, for a total of 606 million units sold.
376 million of these devices are mobile phones touch screen , the phone has definitely contributed to the explosion of touch interfaces in our daily lives.
50% of these phones use resistive technology screens against 31% for capacitive screens (the remaining 19% is shared among other technologies).
No doubt capacitive screens will have their percentage increase very rapidly, with massive sales of Apple products like the iPad , iPhone or iPod.
